Archimedes’ college cost & savings tools help families and consumers define realistic college savings goals, measure their progress, and make decisions about saving and investing for college with confidence.   Whether used in a self-service environment or by a financial professional, these tools provide helpful, quantifiable, personalized information and can be customized to identify the benefits of various best-fit college savings products and services.

College Savings Planner (CSP)

Assists users in determining their college funding goals, gaps in savings, and a realistic course of action for meeting their goals. Allowing users to input data for up to five children, CSP projects costs in the user's timeframe, estimating the additional monthly and lump-sum savings amounts needed to close any gaps. It encourages the user to play “what-ifs” with different funding goal percentages based on the motivating fact that financial aid, loans and other types of financing are available. CSP includes a college cost database featuring approximately 3,800 Title IV colleges and a table of current average college costs. CSP generates a summary report that can be customized for use by the financial professional.

Education Funding Planner (EFP)

Creates a personalized education funding report, helping individuals assess their college savings goals and strategies. EFP analyzes the college funding challenge for the overall household and for each individual child and includes a college cost database with approximately 3,800 Title IV colleges. EFP projects the future value of education costs at the individual’s preferred colleges and presents an action plan for meeting those costs.  Ideal for presenting best-fit college savings product information, this tool can be customized for use as a sales tool for financial professionals or for use in a self-service environment. EFP generates a professional report that clients will want to hang on to.

Cost of Waiting College Calculator

Allows the user to estimate future college costs in their time frame and to compare the lump-sum and monthly savings they will need to put aside if they begin investing for college now and at various intervals in the future. The tool illustrates the cost of waiting to invest and the benefits of starting early.

College Savings Quick Projector

Estimates what the user’s savings may be worth when the student enters college, comparing both tax-free and taxable savings growth. The calculator accommodates a variety of savings inputs, including a current savings balance or lump sum, planned periodic savings, and a future lump-sum contribution that may be on the horizon.

College Cost Projector

Calculates future college costs in the user's time frame, based on the cost of one year of college today, a specified inflation rate, the number of years until college, and the number of anticipated years of college attendance.

Allows users to look up the current college costs at specific colleges of interest to them. Presents tuition & mandatory fees, room & board, and total costs.
