Retirement Planner - Accumulation Model (RPA)
Retirement Planner - Distribution Model (RPD)

The Retirement Planners are engaging and fun. The Retirement Planner - Accumulation Model simultaneously illustrates a capital accumulation and the retirement income it will support. It draws users into the planning process, and helps them understand the scenarios that are likely to result from various combinations of assumptions. The Retirement Planner - Distribution Model, for investors on the very verge of retiring, subtly underscores the value of keeping their 401(k) assets intact in the form of a rollover at retirement.

You can use these tools (with slight modifications) on both your public and participant sites. On your public site, use them as motivational and informational tools. On your participant site, use them to focus employees on their need to contribute more and to plan for the transition to retirement.

Personalized Projections

If you wish to illustrate the effect that increased plan contributions could have for participants and non-participants, these projections may be what you are looking for. Personalized employee projections are created from downloaded census data and/or employee-provided information. These materials can show each employee, on a personalized basis, the after-tax cost of contributing, the cost of waiting, and the potential value of participation (at various contribution levels and rates of return).

Your projections can also reflect:
Multi-step match formulas or matches conditioned on years of service,
Voluntary employer contributions in addition to the match,
Catch-up contributions,
Compensation indexed to inflation (including adjustments to contribution limits),
Plan features that vary by employee group or location,
Variable length projections based on employee age, and
Customized text to replace the text we have used.

The Balancer

The Balancer is a suite of three tools (Java Applets). The first helps an employee decide how much to set aside for education funding. The second helps the employee decide how much to set aside for retirement and the third helps the employee balance these two goals. The Balancer quickly and graphically shows what happens when resources are moved from one account to the other.

Next Step Analysis (NSA)

If your challenge is to add value in the post-enrollment time period, when many plans first become profitable, you may be wondering how to answer the question on the minds of many sponsors: "What have you done for me lately?" NSA is a sophisticated analysis and proactive communication tool designed to generate "the right message, to the right employee, at the right time." It helps sponsors meet plan goals by motivating employees to take the action that is most appropriate for their future financial security.
