Technical Requirements

The Archimedes Retirement Planner works best on the Windows platforms in Microsoft IE version 4.0 and later browsers. You can check your browser version from the Help/About menu choice of the browser window. If you do not have the Microsoft IE browser you can download it from Microsoft at www.microsoft.com.

In addition, your browser must have Java support and JavaScript support enabled. This is the default for most 4.X browsers and later, but may be turned off or disallowed by corporate firewalls.

In some cases, when running the Archimedes applet for the first time, you may be prompted to allow installation of a Java plug-in (called a JVM, or Java Virtual Machine) to enable the applet to run. If you are unsure whether you can use Java applets in your corporate environment, contact your systems administrator.

To download and install the latest Sun Microsystems JVM:

1. Click the Java - Get It Now button below. The Download Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment page appears.
2. Review and accept the License Agreement.
3. Select the appropriate download and follow the online instructions.

Apple Macs with OS version 9 or earlier generally do not support Java tools. We are now testing the applet under Mac OS version X.
